Loire Valley one day tour

As

mentioned on our page dedicated to tours, there is a lot to see only 2 hours from Paris. The Loire Valley is definitely a region we recommend you to explore and for this we’ve designed a one day tour where you’ll :

– Visit amazing castles,

– taste great local cheese and wine,

– Visit a wine cellar and learn how they produce the wine,

– Enjoy the Loire Valley from the sky.

The region could even be explored through several days as this wide area has so much to offer. Let’s take a look at the one day tour in details.

Château de Chambord

The first step will bring you to this amazing castle because, there is no Loire Valley tour without going to Chambord. Only 2 hours from Paris, dive into the XVI century thanks to this castle built in 1519. It is the most emblematic renaissance site, standing in the middle of a forest with its large garden.

Its architect remains a mystery as almost every archives about the construction were destroyed. No name is quote in the few documents remaining but we know that the style chosen was Influenced by Da Vinci’s work. Chambord is a must see that we will bring you early in the morning to avoid the crowd as much as possible and let you enjoy this very impressive place.

Domaine du croc du Merle

10 minutes away from the chateau de Chambord is the place to start the first wine a cheese tasting.

Le domaine du croc du Merle is a local farm producing wine and dairy product that you won’t resist.

Cheese, yoghurt, milk all made directly from the lovely cows’s milk in the farm. Other local product like sparkling grapes juice and honey can be purchased for the foodies you probably are or as gift for your close ones.

We will definitely bring a cooler to make sure that you can go back to Paris with your tasty souvenirs. And cherry on the cake, prices are very good. Even I, can’t resist to bring some home every time I drive our passengers there.

Chateau de Pray

After the appetizer at the farm, time for lunch.

Chateau de Pray is a Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant in the lovely town of Amboise. Obviously, the food is amazing, the staff very welcoming and the place has a lot of charm. A perfect restaurant to match with the purpose of the tour, enjoying French culture.

Caves Cathelineau

Hidden into the grapes fields is Caves Cathelineau, one of the loveliest wine cellar I ever visited. I don’t want to say too much about this place because I want you to discover it by yourself but it’s a place with a lot of heart and that is what I liked the most.

Owned by a family since 1690, Jean-Charles, the owner, dug the caves with his own hands which get instantly more impressive. Especially when he explains to you how he did it and how long it took. They even found prehistoric fossils when they dug, you’ll be able to see them there. This place is the cherry on the cake of this tour, I highly recommend.

Air balloon flight

I know i said that Caves Cathelineau was the cherry on the cake but you wouldn’t say no to one more right?!
Fly over the Loire Valley in an air Balloon and let yourself be amazed by the incredible scenery that the region offers. Landscapes, fields, forests, rivers, castles, villages, some animals if you are lucky, these are all the things you can see from the sky and depending on the season it might even be with a sunset. Ending the day on that note guarantees you to have one of the best tour you ever had.
