Our Top 5 places to visit in Paris
is a city that has captivated the hearts and minds of people around the world for centuries. From its stunning architecture to its romantic atmosphere, there is no shortage of things to see and do in the City of Light. However, with so many attractions to choose from, it can be overwhelming to plan the perfect itinerary for your visit. That's where the perspective of a knowledgeable chauffeur can come in handy. With years of experience driving visitors around Paris, our chauffeurs can provide unique insights and recommendations that you won't find in any guidebook. In this article, we'll share the top 5 things to do in Paris, so you can make the most of your time in this beautiful city.
Montmartre
In 6 years of chauffeuring, we drove thousands of tourists and many of them were on European trips. Which means they don’t spend too much days in the city as they are on a trip, so of course they had to prioritize their visits. And we have been surprised to notice that, as famous as Montmartre is, it wasn’t always one of their first choice, but we believeit should be!
We consider Montmartre as the heart of Paris. It is exactly THE Paris you loved in movies, THE Paris from Disney’s the aristocats.
From its architecture, to the street artists and great restaurants, this amazing place even have a Parisian vineyard. Yes, a vineyard in Paris. without missing the most important reason to be there, the Sacre Cœur basilica.
You could also book a table at La Maison Rose, a historical restaurant where Picasso used to go.
The sight on the city is impressive, but when their is a sight their is height! The Basilica is at the top of the mound where your chauffeur can directly drop you off or you can also do it the Parisian way and climb up the stairs. There’s no reward without efforts right?!
Anyway, You will definitely have a magic moment in Montmartre.
Eiffel Tower
Did you need me to plan this? Of course not. So let me just give you a fun fact, because it’s always cool to know one.
The Eiffel Tower was built for the World’s fair of 1889 and was supposed to be demolished like the other buildings of the Universal Exhibition.
The Iron Lady didn’t bring enough visitors and had not more than 150 000 visitors in 1899.
But in 1903, Gustave Eiffel manages to permanently save the tower by making it available to the Ministry of War so that he could experiment with « TSF » (the ancestor of the radio).
Today you can’t talk about Paris without mentioning the tower. It is iconic and even for the Parisians, always a pleasure to see it.
L’arc de triomphe
There’s no doubt you’ll see the arc on your trip but instead of just taking the famous picture from the Champs-Élysées we highly recommend you to visit it!
Two options :
- You can go under the arc for free and witness it’s imposing architecture
- Or you can also go on the top and add to the experience one of the best view of the city!
An impressive 360° view on the Champs-Elysées, the Eiffel Tower, the 12 avenues of « place de l’Etoile » shaping it as a star and many more.
This breathtaking monument took 30 years to be made, from 1806 to 1836. It is one of the most emblematic monument of France as it commemorates the unknown soldier.
Panthéon
The Pantheon is an other forgiven monument that we highly recommend. This remarkable building was meant to be a church and saw his functions change 7 times to become a place honoring great mens and women who marked the French history.
Famous names like Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas or Joséphine Baker are resting there.
It’s architecture is monumental inside and outside! And from spring to fall you can even access to the top with a 360° view on the city.
It’s location in the 5th district (or « arrondissement » in French) makes it an other reason to visit it. The Latin quarter shelters numerous historical sites like the Luxembourg garden right in front of the Pantheon or the Shakespeare library near Notre-dame cathedral.
DisneyLand Paris
Not everyone can brag about having Disney in his city or even in his country. But Parisians can!
About an hour by car separates you from a place where everything feels like a dream.
Celebrating now it’s 30 years, the park is expanding with its Marvel section which makes it a must do for kids and elders!
We know that not only kids love Spiderman and the Avengers so make sure to go meet them at the new Marvel Avengers Campus !
Visiting so many monuments and museums can be tiring, especially in a city like Paris which is full of history at every corner. Give yourself a treat and go for a chauffeured city tour!
